Israel as whipping boy

It is refreshing to read the article written by columnist Michelle Stirling-Anosh commenting on Robert Fowler, Canadian diplomat, confirming elements of the old Passover story, using Israel as the whipping boy for all the troubles of the Middle East.

It is refreshing to read the article written by columnist Michelle Stirling-Anosh commenting on Robert Fowler, Canadian diplomat, confirming elements of the old Passover story, using Israel as the whipping boy for all the troubles of the Middle East.

Of course, Fowler is reflecting a liberal mindset. “Don’t take sides in the differences with the Palestinians and the rest of the Arab countries and Israel, but, behind the scenes, we will side with the Pope in his meetings with Yassar Arafat as head of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, (PLO.)”

In which case, to solve this whole mess of a future Palestinian state, move all the Palestinians from the Gaza Strip and the West Bank and place them on the East Bank of the Jordan, precisely in the country of Jordan, which is their homeland as they are all of the old Hashmite Kingdom, Jordanians and Palestinians alike. They are all one people. Palestine really is the land of Jordan.

Wouldn’t it make more sense, that these poor people living in “squatter” villages in the West Bank and Gaza wanted to be a force to be reckoned with; to join their brothers on the East Bank and be one nation?

No, that would be too easy! Keep those people where they are and call them Palestinians and push for a Palestinian state, carved out of the rightful land of Israel and diminish the state of Israel until the Arabs own it all.

Isn’t that really what Fowler is advocating?

Thank God we have people in high places like Prime Minister Steven Harper who can see through all the rhetoric.
