Let’s dump multiculturalism

I have never liked the term multiculturalism applied in our country. It implies that we do not have a Canadian culture.

Multiculturalism is the policy or practice of giving equal attention or representation to the cultural needs and contributions of all the groups in a society.

I have never liked the term multiculturalism applied in our country. It implies that we do not have a Canadian culture.

This was a Liberal term forced on us for political correctness.

To be totally honest, there is nothing to celebrate about many cultures in this world. They have stupid traditions, persecutions, radical religions and unstable politics.

We built a country forged on the beliefs of our pioneers.

People come here because we have a culture of equality, respect for laws and fairness. Not to mention maple syrup, Canadian bacon, rodeos, skiing, hockey, native heritage and art, wide-open spaces, horses, cows, fishing, all kinds of wildlife, beautiful lakes and mountains, etc.

Yes, we have a culture.

Of course, immigrants come because of opportunity and a better way of life for them and their family based on this culture.

If you want to celebrate Chinese culture, go to China; if you want to celebrate East Indian culture, go to India; if you want to experience Swedish culture, go to Sweden.

We should only celebrate Canadian culture on Canadian soil.

Celebrating one’s heritage is a different matter.

Many groups such as the Ukrainians, Scottish, Germans, etc. have celebrations. That can be a good thing.

I have told the minster of citizenship, immigration and multiculturalism to drop the term multiculturalism and replace it with Canadian culture.

It would be the right thing to do.
