Re. the Advocate’s June 19 editorial by Lee Giles – headlined Get real, Sarah Palin – about the Alaska governor objecting to a joke made by TV funnyman David Letterman:
So Giles thinks Palin should lighten up, eh? He believes in freedom of speech, eh?
Well, try this one on for size.
Would it be OK for me to make a joke about a person’s underage daughter going to Disneyland and while she’s there, visiting a Hollywood movie set, at which time she gets knocked up by Charlie Sheen — a known womanizer (like Alex Rodriguez)?
Regardless of anyone’s occupation, their children are never open season to public or media, something a professional journalist should understand.
And by the way, why not have Bristol Palin talk to girls about abstinence?
If you want the facts about the war in Afghanistan, maybe ask a soldier, not some lame-brained politician or newspaper editor.
I guess the next thing we can expect are some off-colour (no pun intended) racist jokes about some underage African-American girls living in the White House.
