I was quite shocked when I saw the photo in the Jan. 6 newspaper of the young man jumping from one trailer to the next to brush the snow off the RV trailers shown.
We have a culture that accepts these unsafe behaviours too readily, I believe. This is an assumption on my part but it seems from the caption and picture title that this was thought to be a ‘Kodak moment’ as opposed to an unsafe act.
Many of us have seen the TV commercials about workers passing away as a result of being too close to electrical lines or being reminded to call before you dig. Things like this can and do lead to consequences that are just as severe.
In my workplace, which places an extremely high importance on personnel safety, actions such as these are absolutely unacceptable.
If that were my son and someone were to see him doing that, I would hope very much that they would show compassion and intervene for his own good.
