Preachers should speak out against sex abuse

This scandal is hard news that we should all be aware of and concerned about.

The gravity of this issue cannot be overstated. We all must speak, whenever we get a chance, in favour of the victims.

They were, after all, just kids when they were molested. Our outrage ought to be as great as our love for kids is genuine.

It is most important for pastors and priests to speak out at this time. We know from history that scandals of this sort are too often handled by those responsible for the crimes.

Wouldn’t it be encouraging to hear that the pastors and priests of our city have banded together in support of the outcry in Europe to have the scandal handled by the civil authorities?

For the sake of abused kids, and for the prevention of future abuse, please urge your pastor or priest to show concern by crying for justice on behalf of these abused persons.

Remember, these victims were no more and no less than little children, just like those that Jesus so tenderly spoke of in the Bible.

Jesus would speak out. So should our church leaders.
