I would support the comment by political science instructor Dave Baugh, that implementing a ward system in Red Deer would be a strong possible solution to remove non-voter excuses and voter apathy.
In addition, it would improve the efficiency of two-way communication and participation between council and voters.
The time has come for a ward system in Red Deer. I would also suggest that it is an important question to pose to all candidates prior to the election — and it should be an important agenda question for serious debate by council after the election.
