Seniors housing units worse than jail

Units for housing seniors are being built with next to no government control. People who build these units work on government grants to house seniors as cheaply as possible and turn a profit.

The rooms are small and lonely, a big adjustment from housing they were used to before.

Three meals and snacks are provided daily with nothing too fancy, meeting a low calorie standard served in a boring setting.

Most of these units have florescent lighting but have very little natural sunlight. The meals will maintain the body but the living caring spirit could suffer greatly.

Seniors are living a lower standard than inmates in jail. Inmates in jails would riot!

Seniors residing in these units in Alberta are a fair distance from medical attention, and to get medical assistance, seniors have to be transported one hour or more and then wait in line and this could take a big part of the day.

Senior transfers could come about sometimes with no logical reason and even complexes could be closed with a tap on a computer button.

Television is boring re-runs with no movies or any other programs and again inmates would riot if treated in this manner.

Atriums should be installed at all senior complexes as the smell of plants and sunshine on a senior’s face is very good therapy.

Seniors could be moved out of their local area which makes it hard for relatives and friends to visit who add to a seniors’ caring of life in general. In these units one can find a lot of seniors staring vacantly, as it seems life has passed them by.

It seems our seniors are not just merely waiting for God; they are simply waiting to die.
