Sentence too lenient for driver in fatal crash

Help me understand how someone can be driving under the influence of alcohol, kill a young girl, run away from the accident, tell people his vehicle was stolen and, when finally apprehended, refuse to provide a blood-alcohol sample.

In the end, we have a broken family who lost their daughter and a driver who gets off with time served (28 months)?

What is wrong with us when we allow this to happen?

Where are those elected people who place their signs up at election time and then fade away afterwards?

Shouldn’t they be doing something?

If we claim our system is so much better compared to other countries, how can a 15-year old girl be killed and the guilty party gets time served?

Providing blood-alcohol samples shouldn’t be an option and while it is, anyone would be foolish to provide it as it would implicate them.

One day our justice system will become equal or better than our legal system.
