Speeders a hazard in Springbrook

I am extremely frustrated with the lack of speed control in Springbrook (where the speed limit is 30 km per hour), especially now with the paving done.

I am extremely frustrated with the lack of speed control in Springbrook (where the speed limit is 30 km per hour), especially now with the paving done.

We live near the end of Poplar Crescent, where it meets up with Spruce Street.

On the night of May 20, I watched a pickup truck with a full-sized holiday trailer fly at going 60 km/hour at a minimum toward Spruce Street, as well as another white truck that flew down our street three times.

We have contacted the RCMP on numerous occasions, regarding the speeding, and it never seems like they are out here in the later evenings when this is happening.

I have four young children and moved out here because it was a quiet community. I don’t feel that my children are safe anymore because too many people don’t abide by the speed limits.

All it takes is one child stepping into the street at the wrong time for a major tragedy to happen and it seems like that is going to have to happen before Red Deer County will take us serious about the problem with speeders out here.

The excuse we were given for not being able to have speed bumps is that it is too hard for the snow plows. I guess the safety of our children isn’t as important as the job of the snow plow driver.
