There should be an inquiry into civic spending

No restraint of spending. Out of control. We have no leadership from Mayor Morris Flewwelling or city manager Craig Curtis.

At least $118 million was spent on our five-star civic yards. I was told that there is only one like it in Canada, and that is in Toronto with over three million people. We have approximately 50,000 taxpayers.

I have questions for the mayor and city manager about the Collicutt Centre and city buses running empty 80 per cent of the time, polluting the atmosphere.

I have seen things that make me sick.

No company could operate like such or they would be bankrupt.

Why is the Arlington Inn property not sold, when our tax dollars of at least $1.5 million have already been spent?

Councillor Larry Pimm says the new parkade will be paid by consumers with no tax dollars.

I say Pimm must of seen that in a dream. It would take at least 50 years to recover $25 million, and our tax money is being used to build the parkade.

City officials have sold off millions of dollars worth of land that has been paid for us taxpayers and every year our taxes go up, and on top there’s a kickback of approximately $300 per year on gas, electricity, and utilities, besides our taxes.

Flewwelling and Curtis should be looking at the wasteful spending right in our own city, while many seniors and hard-working people are having a hard time keeping a roof over their head and putting food on the table.

Again, I urge all you taxpayers to call for an independent inquiry. There is much more to be said.
