There’s no shame in winning silver

“EPIC FAIL” that was your front page headline for Thursday Jan 6/11. You could have put “CANADA WINS SILVER,” but no, you wanted to go for the jugular.

These are teen boys in a Junior League who are playing their hearts out for Canada, and this is how we deal with the loss of a Hockey Game. I am totally ashamed of this paper and how you handled this event.

I know this was disappointing to all of Canada that we didn’t win gold, but we should still celebrate getting silver.

You could see the disappointment in the boys with their body action, heads held low and some were crying. We gave them nothing to hang on to. I wouldn’t blame these kids if they chucked their hockey gear and quit.

They won’t do this though, because they love hockey, it’s been instilled in them since birth. If we are not going to support them when they lose a game then what would be the reason for them to play their hearts out for our country.

Shame on everyone who said a negative statement about these kids, who love their game and their country.
