Time to get trail bridge repaired

It is a few weeks now that the trail leading west from Spruce Drive into the park is closed. It is because the bridge on the creek was damaged by the heavy rains and the support structure underneath at one of the ends has given way, making it dangerous for use by the public.

It is a few weeks now that the trail leading west from Spruce Drive into the park is closed. It is because the bridge on the creek was damaged by the heavy rains and the support structure underneath at one of the ends has given way, making it dangerous for use by the public.

That bridge has been in use by a variety of people — students crossing over to go to the schools on the east side, many workers crossing over to go to work, as well as the many people (cyclists, cross-country skiers, dog walkers, etc.) who enjoy our parks and use the trail system somewhat extensively. For all these people, it is an inconvenience, but the Engineering Department of our city does not appear in a hurry to repair this defect.

I would urge that this matter is looked into urgently and the necessary repairs are carried out as soon as possible. The trail remaining closed is a great inconvenience to the many users and should be rectified as soon as possible.

I would urge that the Engineering Department at the City Hall to look into it and give it the utmost priority.
