Tories should be ashamed

I was appalled recently to receive a charity request from the Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton.

I was appalled recently to receive a charity request from the Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton.

The request said: “Your donation allows us to continue addressing critical needs in areas where funding from government sources is not available.”

Recession or not, the provincial government must give priority to children’s medical needs! This is the future of our province. The future taxpayers!

The request also states that children treated at the hospital come from not only Alberta, but the Yukon, Nunavut, Northwest Territories and parts of B.C., Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

If this is true, surely the Alberta government must be collecting fees from those provinces and territories! It is a disgrace for a hospital to be soliciting funds for critical care when taxpayers already pay huge taxes. The Ed Stelmach government should be ashamed!
