National Volunteer Week takes place April 18 to 24 and the Canadian Cancer Society would like to take this opportunity to give its 7,500 volunteers a heartfelt thank you for entering the ring and fighting back against cancer.

Volunteers are an integral part of the Canadian Cancer Society and without their dedication, energy and tireless efforts, we would not be able to meet our goals of working towards eradicating cancer and enhancing the quality of life of people living with cancer.

Cancer is a tough opponent, but our volunteers refuse to throw in the towel. With their support, we are making progress. Today, 62 per cent of people diagnosed with cancer will survive, compared to only 25 per cent in the 1940s.

Together, with our volunteers, the Canadian Cancer Society continues to lead In the fight against cancer.
