Well settled in at Extendicare Michener Hill

My mother was among the first people to make the move from Valley Park Manor to Extendicare Michener Hill. The move proved to be an unimaginable trauma for a 95 year-old person with dementia.

My mother was among the first people to make the move from Valley Park Manor to Extendicare Michener Hill. The move proved to be an unimaginable trauma for a 95 year-old person with dementia.

New surroundings, obvious shortage and confusion among care giving staff, in her household, added to her insecurity.

After a few days of observing this bedlam I directed an e-mail to both MLA Jablonski and Wayne McKendrich, Regional Manager of Extendicare voicing my concern for my mother’s well being.

Jablonski’s Executive Assistant eventually phoned me with assurances that my concerns are being addressed and McKendrick’s office e-mailed to advise that they will be in touch.

I am now very happy to say that my concerns have been addressed in regards to my mother’s care and well being. She is content and I am confident that the care-givers in her household are doing a very good job.

A special bouquet for David Gutscher and his administrative staff who, in my opinion, overcame huge obstacles in opening this new facility.

They have opened various opportunities for families to meet with them individually on a 24/7 basis as well Family Council meetings monthly or coffee at the Bistro Monday and Fridays.

I am very happy with the open-door policy that David and his staff have set in motion. I am sure that together we, David, staff and good care givers can make this facility one beyond reproach.
