West Country weekend wastes

I just read your cheery report about how May Long Week-end crime was down in the West Country. That may be true, if you don’t count the unbelievable amount of garbage and human waste left behind in wilderness sites.

It creates a big cleanup bill for counties. I watched a presentation in Rocky Mountain House with dozens of photos of the horrendous state of those unregulated campsites. Garbage knee deep, couches, chairs, BBQs, trailers — even vehicles.

The presenters mentioned the hundreds of RVs, draining sewage tanks along the back roads. If that isn’t a crime, it should be; 60,000 people from outside the area descend on the West Country on any given weekend. That’s a lot of garbage and human waste. We need to read more detailed reports of these things so we can help educate our urban neighbours.
