The Red Deer Synchronized Swim Club is in the process of winding down after a season of fun and competition.

Canadian synchronized swimming uses an age-based tier system, with some swimmers competing at the provincial level while others vie for honours at the national level.

Club members in the national stream recently competed at the Western divisional competition in Edmonton. April Connolly, 16, took third place in figures, a series of compulsory movements; while Jessica Johnson, 16, placed sixth; and Lisa Dahlke, 16, seventh in solo competition.

In addition to competitive training, the club — which trains out of Michener Recreation Centre dive tank — also offers Aquasquirts for swimmers six to eight years old and adult and recreational programs as well as summer camps.
