TORONTO — Beer lovers living in or visiting Ontario wanting to try pairing their beverage with chocolate and cheese or to learn the art of traditional beer-making will get their chance at a week-long festival devoted to local brews.

Ontario Craft Beer Week kicks off on Father’s Day, June 19, and runs through June 25 with various events around the province designed to expose enthusiasts to the craft beer experience.

There will be tasting events, brewery tours, cooking demonstrations, food pairings, beer dinners, music and games, with activities set to take place in breweries, restaurants, bars and outdoor venues throughout the province.

After last year’s success, organizers decided to repeat the event and make it an annual affair.

The organization, which includes more than 25 members, aims to encourage the use of fresh, natural ingredients to craft various types of beer in smaller batches.

“Craft beer weeks have become a hugely popular part of the local beer movement in North America,” event co-chair Steve Beauchesne of Beau’s All Natural Brewing Co. said in a release.

“Here in Ontario, we’re creating a world-class beer experience in our own backyard through grassroots events and tasting opportunities.

“It’ll be a great way for Ontarians and tourists to discover fresh, local beer, experience food and beer matching and support local businesses.”
