Gary Moe Mazda is bulking up and out.

The auto dealership on Red Deer’s southern outskirts in Gasoline Alley East is undergoing a major expansion that will increase both its size and vehicular offerings.

“We’re pretty much going to double the size of the indoor showroom,” said Dean Moe, general manager of Gary Moe Mazda.

He added that the dealership’s parts and service department and customer lounge will also increase in size, and the building will adopt Mazda’s new image. This will include a greater height and more glass, which should enhance the visual appeal of the business, said Moe.

Not only will the expansion enable Gary Moe Mazda to display more new cars, it will increase the area available for used vehicles. Last November, Gary Moe Auto Group Used Car Superstore moved to the Gary Moe Mazda property from 7620 50th Ave. — the former site of Gary Moe Saturn.

“We want to have the availability and room to have next-to-new vehicles indoors for customers to look at,” said Moe.

Work on the expansion is expected to wrap up by late summer or fall. Gary Moe Mazda’s sales and service departments will remain open throughout, said Moe.
