The Red Deer Chamber of Commerce has named the finalists for its 2013 Business of the Year awards.
Babycakes Cupcakery, Stems Floral Gallery and The Coverall Shop are in the running among businesses and other organizations with one to 15 full-time employees.
Vying for the award among employers with 16 to 49 staff are Carpet Colour Centre — Carpet One Floor & Home, Deermart Equipment Sales Ltd. and IFR Workwear. The final category, which is for employers with 50 or more workers, has been whittled down to Bilton Welding and Manufacturing Ltd., Peavey Industries and Red Deer College.
A release issued by the Chamber said more than 40 nominations were received for this year’s awards. A committee composed of local business leaders chose the finalists.
Winners will be named at an Oct. 15 awards gala at the Red Deer College Arts Centre.
