Working under the level of the river on the middle bridge pier of the Gaetz Avenue bridge a worker shovels broken concrete removed from the pier Tuesday.
While work continues on the deck and rail of the bridge above, the pier below has been pumped free of water so crews have access to the concrete there.
Construction on the southbound lanes of the bridge is expected to be completed by Oct. 15.
