Ponoka chamber earns provincial recognition

The Ponoka and District Chamber of Commerce has received a provincial award.Ponoka, Fort Macleod and Lethbridge were all honoured by the Alberta Chambers of Commerce with 2015 Chamber of the Year Awards.The Ponoka chamber won in the 101-to-300-members category.It was cited for hosting a number of successful events that bring together its community.

The Ponoka and District Chamber of Commerce has received a provincial award.

Ponoka, Fort Macleod and Lethbridge were all honoured by the Alberta Chambers of Commerce with 2015 Chamber of the Year Awards.

The Ponoka chamber won in the 101-to-300-members category.

It was cited for hosting a number of successful events that bring together its community. It was also lauded for its successful relationships with its municipal and provincial government, which enable it to be an effective voice for its businesses.

The Ponoka chamber is also active in participating in provincial events and the ACC called Ponoka an important partner in Alberta’s chamber federation.

The Lethbridge chamber won in the category for a chamber with more than 300 members.

The Fort Macleod chamber won in the up-to-100 members category.

The awards were presented in Medicine Hat on Saturday at the close of the Alberta Chambers of Commerce’s 77th annual general meeting and provincial conference.

The organization also announced its new executive, led by chairman Carman McNary of Edmonton.

The ACC’s executive committee for the 2015-16 term also includes past-chair Dom Mancuso of Red Deer.

The Alberta Chambers of Commerce is a federation of 128 community-based chambers of commerce representing more than 24,000 businesses.
