The Red Deer Chamber of Commerce will begin accepting nominations for its 2012 Business of the Year Awards on Monday.

Presented annually in conjunction with the Business Development Bank of Canada’s Small Business Week in October, the Chamber awards recognize recipients in three categories: businesses with one to 15, 16 to 49, or 50 or more full-time equivalent employees. Nominees are judged on the basis of customer service, growth, awards, innovation, contributions to the community and other criteria. They don’t have to belong to the Chamber to qualify.

Three finalists will be chosen in each category, with the winners to be announced at an Oct. 17 awards gala.

Last year’s winners were Red Deer Discount Golf Centre, L.A. Radio Group Ltd. and Hamill’s Dairy Queen in the small, medium and large business categories respectively.

Nominations forms for the 2012 Business of the Year Awards can be completed at www.reddeerchamber.com/nominate, with forms also available at the Red Deer Chamber of Commerce office and downloadable as a PDF on the Chamber website.
