A trip to Canadian Tire no longer means a trip out of town for Sylvan Lake residents. The iconic national store opened for business at 62 Thevenaz Industrial Trail in Beju Industrial Park on March 30. Canadian Tire’s corporate head office confirmed the store has more than 34,000 square feet of retail space and an automotive service centre with seven bays. An additional 8,000 square feet inside the building is dedicated to a Mark’s clothing store. The store was developed using Canadian Tire’s new Smart Store format, with a racetrack layout, customer pick-up area, navigational signage, information kiosks, customer help buttons and price look-up stations. A grand opening is planned for May 5, with Hayley Wickenheiser — a former professional hockey player and four-time Olympian — scheduled to attend.
