Voyagers, a new exhibit by Red Deer artist Erin Boake, is opening on Saturday at the Gallery on Main in Lacombe.

Boake is fascinated by human figures in motion, and Voyagers captures people in the act of travel. She said, “How we occupy and change the circumstances of space” is an underlying theme in her work.

She believes her art has shown an evolution in local flora, fauna and the human figure, “in varying degrees of life, death, mutation and contortion.”

Boake has painted murals and exhibited extensively throughout Alberta, B.C. and Nunavut, She also had works shown at the Agora Gallery in New York City in 2007.

The Gallery on Main show goes to July 11. An opening reception will be held Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. with the artist in attendance.
