Two Alberta artists have opened a Red Deer exhibition detailing their two-and-a-half year old friendship. ‘Soul Sisters: A Journey to the Hearth’ documents the friendship between Grande Prairie’s Sabine Schneider, right, and Glynis Wilson Boultbee of Red Deer. The exhibition runs until Sept. 10 at the Harris-Warke gallery found within Sunworks at 4924 Ross St. The art exhibition stems from the initial meeting of these two women. They knew they would become friends after meeting at a course in Edmonton in February 2009. Within months, they decided to meet regularly to explore the experience of being soul sisters. Through a variety of media, they tracked the development and deepening of their friendship from the moment of initial recognition. The result is said to be a fascinating installation that contains both art and artifacts of their journey. A free reception will be held on Friday, Sept. 2, from 5 to 8 p.m. and everyone is invited to attend. It’s being held during First Friday. Special gallery openings and events happen the first Friday of every month.
