The world premiere of a violin-piano sonata by local composer Ruston Vuori will be performed at Sunday’s worship service at Gaetz United Church.

The special 10:30 a.m. service will include the dedication of a Baldwin concert grand piano that was donated to the church by a local citizen, who restored the 1967 instrument to its original beauty. The piano was originally owned by the University of Alberta and then by Red Deer College.

Gaetz United Church will use the concert piano to enhance Sunday services. As well, the church plans to host a new series of local concerts by Central Alberta musicians.

At this Sunday’s dedication service, guests artists Naomi Delafield on violin and Vuori on piano will perform his Sonata for Violin and Piano in D Major, Opus 10, as well as works by Chopin and Schubert.

Everyone is welcome to attend.
