Alberta Court of Appeal boosts sentence for man who made, distributed child porn

The Alberta Court of Appeal has increased the prison term for a central Alberta man convicted of abusing a young boy and making child pornography.

CALGARY — The Alberta Court of Appeal has increased the prison term for a central Alberta man convicted of abusing a young boy and making child pornography.

Andrew John Tettersell of Sylvan Lake must serve eight years behind bars.

He was sentenced to six years after pleading guilty last year to sexual interference and the making, possession and distribution of child pornography.

The court has ruled the trial judge made a mistake by allowing time for some of the offences to run concurrently.

It says the serious crimes call for consecutive terms.

Tettersell distributed more than 16,000 child porn photos and movies through the Internet, including porn he made involving the boy.
