The Alberta Sports Hall of Fame has announced a few changes to its board of directors.
Following the organization's recent annual general meeting, Kelly Blackshaw, Al Lucas, Kerry Moynihan and Stephen Ohene-Adjei have joined the board.
Blackshaw is the co-founder of KidSport Society Alberta and former vice chair of Alberta Sport Connection. She has chaired the Alberta Masters Games and served on the Calgary Olympic Development Association board. She has more than 40 years of business experience as co-owner and president of Foothills Health Consultants Ltd. and vice president of INLIV Inc.
Lucas grew up in the Lethbridge area and moved to Red Deer in 1986. He's played sports all his life from hockey, to golf, to baseball, and has been active in Central Alberta by supporting many non-profit organizations and events. He has been involved in the media on and off over the past 40 years and currently works with Harvard Media in Red Deer.
Moynihan graduated with an honours bachelor of commerce degree in sports administration from Laurentian University. He has spent more than 40 years holding senior management positions with provincial/national sports federations including cycling, canoeing, shooting, gymnastics, alpine skiing and university sports. He was the General Manager of both the 1995 and 1997 Canada Games. He is retired and lives in Cochrane, where he serves on the town’s Parks and Recreation Committee. Moynihan is also on the Board of Directors for Field Hockey Canada.
Ohene-Adjei is an accountant and financial manager with a background in sports coaching. He served as a wrestling coach at Lethbridge Collegiate Institute from 2012 to 2016.
“We are thrilled to welcome Kelly, Al, Kerry, and Stephen to our board of directors. Their diverse backgrounds and proven leadership will bring fresh perspectives and invaluable expertise as we continue to advance our mission and serve our community,” said board chair Dale Henwood.
In a media release, the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame thanked retiring board members Shirley McClellan, Lisa Miller, Leslie Sproule and Don Oszli for their service to the organization.
“The commitment and expertise of Lisa, Shirley, Don and Leslie have been a cornerstone of our board's success. Their leadership has helped shape the Hall’s growth and impact, and their contributions will be remembered with deep appreciation,” said Henwood.
