Tim Isberg and his band will perform songs of celebration, tragedy and solitude Saturday in Red Deer.

Central Music Festival Society presents a concert by the Alberta alt-country and roots singer-songwriter at the Elks Lodge on May 4.

Isberg's third album, Prairie Fire, tells musical stories about rhe Canadian West, "where pioneers and outlaws, steamboats and railways, fur trade and rebellions... shaped our nation’s destiny." These tracks will bring to life some captivating characters and legends. Starting from the impact of the railway boom, his songs will transport listeners into the late 19th century.

Isberg has a personal connection to these story-songs. His great grandfather was an early pioneer in southern Alberta who had familial ties to a member of the North West Mounted Police stationed in Fort Macleod in1877. Inspired by these roots and his academic studies in Western Canadian history at university, Isberg aims to share Alberta history's "rich tapestry" with listeners.

“I wanted to create an album that would not only entertain, but also educate and inform people about the history of the Canadian Prairies,” Tim says. “I hope that through my songs, people will gain a deeper appreciation and understanding of the people and events that shaped our country.”
