AUPE members and supporters continue to lead Time for Action rallies, which will include a rally at Red Deer Polytechnic on Sept. 7.
The Alberta Union of Provincial Employees said almost all its members — from education, health care, provincial government services, boards and agencies, and municipalities — are in bargaining.
In June, non-academic RDP staff members joined the existing bargaining unit at the polytechnic, increasing membership to almost 500. Bargaining with RDP was to begin in late July.
Members at Red Deer Polytechnic joined more than 82,000 other AUPE members in bargaining this year. The collective agreement between RDP and the AUPE expired June 2024.
The RDP rally runs from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 100 College Blvd along 32nd Street.
Rallies are also scheduled for Saturday at Foot Hills Medical Centre in Calgary and Violet King Henry Plaza in Edmonton.
