The Biggest Christmas Tree Festival will take over downtown Red Deer on Tuesday to officially kick off the Festival of Trees and the holiday season.
This free event includes live entertainment, children’s activities, the Christmas Parade and, of course, the lighting of the city’s biggest Christmas tree.
Entertainment and the lighting of City Hall Park starts at 6 p.m. with the Christmas Parade to follow at 6:30 p.m.
The lighting of the biggest Christmas tree in front of the Old Court House and mainstage entertainment starts at 7 p.m.
The festival will wrap up at 7:45 p.m.
Road closures will be implemented at 5 p.m. to accommodate the parade and festivities: 48th Avenue between 49th and 51st Streets will be closed and there will be no access to Ross Street from 47th Avenue. The roads will reopen around 8 p.m.
The Biggest Christmas Tree Festival will be cancelled if the temperature reaches -25C with the windchill.
