A fight involving up to 15 people resulted in the stabbing of one man and the arrest of another Tuesday night.

Red Deer Mounties responded to a melee that had broken out in the 4600 block of 50th Avenue at about 11:20 p.m.

A 21-year-old Red Deer man had suffered a single stab wound and was transported by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries to Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre.

Police allege the victim was in a bar with family and friends when an altercation erupted between him and someone he knew.

The victim and his family tried to leave when they were again confronted outside by the same man and another man, who then stabbed the victim, police say.

A knife was seized by police. A 25-year-old Red Deer man was arrested at the scene.

Charges have not yet been laid.

RCMP continue to investigate.
