Breaking news: man shot west of Sylvan Lake, suspect vehicle sought

A 33-year-old man was shot early this morning west of Sylvan Lake. Police are asking residents to stay clear of the area out of concerns for police and public safety. The area is blocked off.

A 33-year-old Blackfalds man was shot early this morning west of Sylvan Lake.

Police are asking residents to stay clear of an area 4 km west of the town out of concerns for police and public safety. The area is blocked off.

Police are currently looking for the help in locating a newer model Black Mazda CX5. If you see this vehicle, do not approach this vehicle, you are asked to call 911.

STARS Air Ambulance confirmed a 33-year-old man with gunshot-related injuries was transported to the Royal Alexander Hospital in serious but non-life-threatening conditions around 8:36 a.m. in the area.

Few details have been released including the exact location. Police are not providing any more information at this time.
