A camper continues to recover from injuries after being thrown from his truck that hurtled down an embankment near Rocky Mountain House last weekend.

Brandon Ross, 18, of Red Deer, remains in the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton. More information on his condition was unavailable, Alberta Health Services spokesman Kerry Williamson said on Friday.

Rocky RCMP say the man was seen leaving his campsite about 11:30 p.m. on Saturday night and was reported missing on Sunday about 5 p.m. Police searched the area and shortly after found the truck and Ross nearby.

Ambulance and fire crews, as well as Alberta sheriffs, were called to help.

STARS was dispatched to the Prairie Creek Provincial Recreation Area just after 7 p.m. on Sunday to pick up the man. STARS reports the vehicle had gone over a nine-foot embankment, and that Ross had been found at the bottom.

Rocky RCMP are continuing to investigate.
