From classic country music to cowboy movie soundtracks, the Central Alberta Chamber Orchestra will play something completely unexpected this month in Red Deer and Ponoka.

The CACO's final concert of the season is called Country and Westerns, and it will be performed on Friday, May 24, in Red Deer and Sunday, May 26, in Ponoka.

The show will feature country singer/songwriter Devon Cooper, vocalist Haeley Ginter, four talented high school musician interns —  as well as special appearances by professional musicians Danica Hoffart, Sharon Braun and Steve Sherman.

Devin Cooper, from Innisfail and now living in Calgary, is the recording artist vote “Most Nominated Solo Artist” by the Country Music Alberta Awards in 2023 with his southern country-rock sound. Haeley Ginter has singing and speaking projects, including gigs with Red Deer party band, Funhouse.

The concert will showcase high school interns: Arrianna Reyes (Notre Dame High School) on flute, Seth Bushell (Notre Dame High School) on trumpet, Aurora Hammond (Lindsey Thurber High School) on trombone, and Brady Varty (Notre Dame High School) on bass trombone.

'You'll be singing and dancing the night away," states a release from CACO, "so shine up your cowboy boots and 10 gallon hats and join us."

Cash bar is available at the 7 p.m. Friday night performance at Festival Hall in Red Deer. Visit eventbrite.ca for more information about this show.

Visit kfatheatre.com for tickets to the 2 p.m. Sunday, May 26 at the Ponoka United Church, 5020 - 52 Avenue, Ponoka. This latter concert is hosted by Klaglahachie Fine Arts Society. Tickets are also available at the door half hour before performance
