Charges laid after weekend stabbing in Red Deer

A Red Deer man has been charged with aggravated assault following a fight that left one man with stab wounds on the weekend.

A Red Deer man has been charged with aggravated assault following a fight that left one man with stab wounds on the weekend.

Red Deer city RCMP and Red Deer Emergency Services were called out Sunday shortly after 6:30 a.m. to a stabbing outside an apartment in the 3400 block of 52nd Avenue.

Two males were reportedly fighting when one of them took out a knife and stabbed the other with it, police allege.

A 27-year-old Red Deer man was taken to Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre with non-life threatening injuries. Police found the suspect shortly after and arrested him.

Police say the pair knew each other. The victim was released from hospital.

Alexander Talbot, 18, of Red Deer has been charged with one count of aggravated assault and one count of breach of recognizance. He was remanded in custody and after making a brief court appearance on Monday, he’ll be back in Red Deer provincial court on Friday for election and plea.

RCMP continue to investigate.
