Charges laid against 30-year-old man in connection with fatal motorcycle accident

A 30-year-old man faces five charges after a collision that resulted in the death of a 44-year-old Springbrook man on Wednesday.

A 30-year-old man faces five charges after a collision that resulted in the death of a 44-year-old Springbrook man on Wednesday.

Chad Ryan Connatty was in provincial court in Red Deer via close-circuit video on Friday morning. Police say he has a permanent Kelowna, B.C., address but has been working in the Red Deer area.

He remains in custody and will be back in court on May 29.

Connatty is charged with impaired driving causing death, operation of motor vehicle over .08 causing death, impaired operation of a motor vehicle, blood alcohol level exceeding .08 and driving while disqualified.

He is also due in Fort McMurray provincial court on June 3 on charges of impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol level exceeding .08 in relation to an earlier incident.
