The city is looking for committee members to help create a new economic development model for Red Deer.
Ten volunteers are needed to sit on the newly created Ad Hoc Economic Development Committee, which was formed during focus group sessions for the Red Deer 2050 visioning plan. Applicants will need to complete a form and submit it to the city's legal and Legislative Services before Oct. 7.
The key goals under the 2050 plan are prosperity by creating a thriving, diverse, and innovative business environment that positions Red Deer for sustained regional, national, and global growth.
Mike Olesen, Growth and Finance General Manager for the city said, “We are seeking members for this committee who are passionate about exploring a new approach to economic development in Red Deer. We want to make the most of this opportunity to unify and strengthen the city’s economic efforts towards building a more prosperous and competitive city.”
The committee will gather input and then ensure recommendations reflect the needs and aspirations of the entire Red Deer community. A report outlining methodology, learning and recommendations is to be presented to city council in April 2025.
