The closure of Gaetz Avenue Bridge in Red Deer has been extended an extra day.
The closure will continue into Thursday now.
The City of Red Deer is not giving a precise time for when the bridge over the Red Deer River is expected to reopen on Thursday.
City crews have been clearing a buildup of debris, such as large trees, that has collected under the bridge because of high water.
The debris is considered a hazard and the bridge is closed so crews can work from it safely. Boaters are advised to avoid the area immediately upstream of the bridge.
If travel by boat is necessary, keep to the south side of the river, watch for signage and stay well clear of the concrete piers when approaching the bridge.
The bridge closure began on Tuesday and traffic is being directed to Taylor Bridge. The closure is causing considerable traffic disruption with major waits at Taylor Bridge.
