Police haven’t released the identity of a 48-year-old man who was struck by an SUV and killed on Sunday night while crossing Hwy 2.

RCMP Innisfail Traffic Services and City of Red Deer fire-medics were dispatched at 8:40 p.m.

Police said the man on the bicycle was not wearing any reflective clothing and did not have any lights on his bicycle when he was hit.

The 43-year-old male driver of the SUV, a 42-year-old female passenger, along with 12-year-old and eight-year-old children in the SUV, were all wearing their seatbelts and were not injured.

Police said alcohol and speed were not factors in this collision. Road conditions were clear and dry.

Police will not release the name of the deceased until family members are notified.
