A Red Deer man charged in a major drug bust involving several others reserved his plea on Thursday to a date in August, when he will appear with one of his co-accused.

Ahmed Nur, 28, now faces 41 drug and firearm-related offences in connection with an RCMP raid in Red Deer, as well as on a storage unit in Edmonton, on July 12.

He was also charged with three charges of corrupting children in connection with the same incident.

Nur, who remains in custody, was ordered on Thursday to return to Red Deer provincial court on Aug. 16.

That’s the same date as co-accused Raed Abdulla, 29, of no fixed address, to appear. He faces 30 offences including seven counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm and five counts of tampering with a serial number.

Red Deer city RCMP said earlier they seized more than $60,000 worth of drugs, $65,000 in cash and eight firearms.

Chris Hernberg, 19, of Red Deer, will be in court on Aug. 11 on one count of trafficking and one count of commission of an offence for a criminal organization.

Two youths were also charged with a number of drug-related and possession of property obtained by crime offences. They are 16 and 17 and can’t be identified under terms of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The seizure was part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.
