A Red Deer man facing more than 30 fraud, forgery and credit card charges has parted ways with his lawyer and is now seeking new legal help.

Lesley Jerry Billett, 46, is accused of bilking various people and companies, including a number of shredding companies and a Red Deer car dealership of more than $175,000 in total.

Billett has changed lawyers at least twice since his arrest on April 6, 2011.

Red Deer lawyer Kevin Schollie asked to withdraw from the case in Red Deer provincial court on Wednesday, stating that he and his client could not reach a consensus on how to proceed with the charges.

Appearing via closed-circuit TV from Red Deer Remand Centre, Billett listened quietly as the indictable offences were read to him.

Judge Bert Skinner ordered that Billett return to court with a new lawyer on May 16.
