At around 5 p.m. on Sunday, Red Deer Emergency Services received a complaint of a fire at the former Buffalo Hotel. It turned out to be a smoldering futon that someone had thrown out a window. Firefighter Brian Burry, above, was on it right away, extinguishing a burn spot with a water backpack.
