Peer support worker Mickey Warkentin plays guitar as Elfie Howard, centre right, and others from the Milnerton Women’s Institute near Pine Lake tour A Gathering Place with guide Oliver Bennett Wednesday. The peer support centre for those with a mental illness history held its grand opening and now provides computer and Internet access, a library, workshop and learning resources and support groups. It’s located at 5021 Ross Street and open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m. It is supported by the Canadian Mental Health Association, Employment Placement and Support Services, David Thompson Health Region and Central Alberta Brain Injury Society.
