Brian Wassink augers wheat from his combine into a waiting ruck as a swather cuts down still more during the Canada Food Grains harvest southwest of Ponoka Friday. Eight combines, a swather, two tractors pulling grain carts and seven trucks took part in the 14th annual Ponoka Foodgrains Project harvest. Last year’s Ponoka harvest netted the Canada Food Grains Bank, an inter-denominational organization dedicated to eradicating global hunger, about $73,000. A second Canada Food Grains harvest was held on Saturday west of Bentley with lunch at noon and combining at 1 p.m.
