Guns, prescription drugs seized in raid

Const. Chris Kosack, media liaison officer for the Red Deer City RCMP, said a search warrant was executed following joint investigation of an armed robbery in Olds on Feb. 1.

Members of the Red Deer City RCMP general investigation section, Red Deer RCMP emergency response team, Olds RCMP and Calgary RCMP GIS arrested three men at the house, located in the South Hill neighbourhood near 36th Street and 52nd Avenue. One man was released without charges.

Seized at the scene were 10 firearms, including some with altered barrels, a quantity of ammunition and a variety of prescription drugs, including oxycontin and codeine.

Two Red Deer men face extensive charges and are being held in custody pending their first court appearance Friday.

Stanley Cox, 46, faces one count each of pointing a firearm, using a firearm to commit and offence, disguising himself with intent to commit a crime and careless use of a firearm. He has also been charged with:

• Seven counts of possession of a weapon obtained by crime

• 10 counts possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

• 11 counts of careless use of a firearm

• three counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm

• 13 counts of possession of weapons contrary to an order

• Two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Tyler Cox, 21, faces the same charges.
