H1N1 clinic back on for Monday

Alberta Health Services will hold an H1N1 immunization clinic in Red Deer on Monday after all.

Alberta Health Services will hold an H1N1 immunization clinic in Red Deer on Monday after all.

The clinic was cancelled earlier this week. Now it’s back on to encourage more Central Albertans to get vaccinated to protect themselves during the Christmas season.

“With children out of school and families taking time off, now is an excellent opportunity to get yourself and your children immunized against influenza,” said Dr. Gerhard Benadé, Central Zone AHS medical officer of health.

The clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Westerner Park, Salon A and B, 4847A 19th St.

All Albertans over six months of age are eligible to receive the vaccine and all individuals in high-risk categories are also eligible to receive the seasonal influenza vaccine.

The vaccine is free.

For more vaccination information, other clinic locations and dates in Central Alberta go online to www.albertahealthservices.ca or call HEALTHLink Alberta toll free at 1-866-408-5465.

People can also check with their local doctor’s office or pharmacy to find out if they are immunizing clients.
