Habitat for Humanity has joined the public appeal to help a Red Deer family who was forced out of their home due to a fire on Sunday.

Israel Lopez, his wife Maria Vega, and their three children lost almost everything in the fire that destroyed their kitchen and part of the living room in their rented duplex.

The family was recently approved for a Habitat for Humanity home that won’t be ready for up to two years. In the meantime, the humanitarian organization encourages the public to help the family now.

Donations of household items the family needs is available on Habitat Red Deer’s Facebook page.

Cash donations can also be made through Catholic Social Services at 403-346-8818.
