Preliminary hearings will be stretched over five days at the beginning of 2013 for an Edmonton man who has pleaded not guilty to killing his girlfriend and then dumping her body.

Dana Jane Turner, 31, was reported missing to Fort Saskatchewan RCMP on Aug. 16, 2011. Her remains were found in a rural area near Innisfail on Oct. 9.

Mark Damien Lindsay, 25, is accused of first/second murder, performing an indignity to a body and obstructing justice in relation to the discovery.

Lindsay, son of former Edmonton Police Chief John Lindsay, was arrested and near Kamloops on Sept. 21 and detained at the Port Coquitlam pretrial centre on charges of robbery and possession of a dangerous weapon.

He was arrested and charged there on March 15 and transferred to Red Deer Remand Centre, where he remains.

Appearing in Red Deer provincial court by closed-circuit TV on Tuesday, Lindsay pleaded not guilty and elected trial by judge and jury.

A preliminary inquiry has been scheduled for early next year, starting on Jan. 8 and continuing on Jan. 16, 23, 30 and on Feb. 1.

The hearings are held to determine if there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial.
